BlackBerry is an essential device for any telecommuter

"I like to read the Sales by 5 blog every now and then because power user Nan Palmero works at the company and it's good inspirational reading. A recent post on their blog is talking about "Using Great Technology" which of course involves a BlackBerry.

About two months ago, some things in my life changed, and I decided to move away from San Antonio. Rather than fearing for my job, I went straight to Erik and told him about my situation. We chose to put our state of the art technology to the test! With the use of our BlackBerry devices, Dell laptops equipped with shared calendars and contacts by Microsoft Outlook, google talk, a Sprint Air Card during the move, and Foonz conference call service, I have managed to stay an important part of the team. What we do and how well we do it have not changed. Among other responsibilities, Erik and Nan rely on me for all of their scheduling from nearly 1,000 miles away. Great technology is one thing that our team could not afford to sacrifice. This is the future of the work environment. Are you investing in great technology? And if so, are you using it to better your team? "

REMEMBER: Javatyger.com Domain Closed Feb 15th!!

Hey Everyone!!

Unfortunately, because I cannot afford to renew the domain, Javatyger.com is been closed down on February 15th, 2009. Remember, you can still view this blog by going to javatyger.blogspot.com instead of javatyger.com . I really wish this didn't have to happen, but Yahoo! raised their rates, and I just can't afford the renewal price.

Thanks again, and remember, this blog will still be working, please update your links.

Thanks!!

Lonnie.

Fido to launch BlackBerry service on February 4th!

The rumours are true! Fido is to launch the BlackBerry service on February 4th.

That's the good news. The "bad" news is they are only launching with the Pearl 8100. Where's the love Fido? Why can't we get at least a 8120? Now as the rumours fly Fido will see a 8220 flip in Q2 and the 8900 in Q3. (This is unconfirmed of course).

Also forgotten is Fido's recent commitment to disposing of the 3 year contract in favour of the more user friendly 2 year contracts. The rumour (unconfirmed) is that the 8100 will start at $400 for no contract or month to month and $350 for 2 year contract. With the kicker being $50 for a 3 year contract.

Data plans will apparently be the same as Rogers. This comes as no surprise to most. The main differentiator will be that Fido does not require you to have a minimum of $45 plan for you to get the Pearl 8100 with a 3 year contract for only $50.

Yay, thanks Fido. :p

As far as this stacker is concerned it's about time Fido joined the team but I would be more excited about this venture if Rogers saw fit to give us the 8220 or 8900 to kick it off. Also, would it be so difficult to find some reasonable 2 year pricing people?

I'll keep you posted as I know more about specifics and get confirmations.
